The new Move Solutions Tiltmeter

Move Solutions is proud to announce the release of its latest innovation in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM): the new Tiltmeter. Designed with precision, flexibility, and user needs at the forefront, this advanced sensor marks a significant leap forward in the monitoring of structural integrity across various industries.

It offers unparalleled precision in measuring static tilt angles and incorporates temperature and acceleration measurements for comprehensive analysis. This integration enhances data correlation, making it invaluable for structural analysis and monitoring of railways, construction sites, bridges and buildings.

What you should expect from the new Move Solutions Tiltmeter

1. Advanced axis configuration

One of the standout features of the new Tiltmeter is its advanced axis configuration capability. This feature offers more installation options, allowing users to precisely align the sensor with the structure key axes, even when there are installation constraints.

1. Move Solutions new Tiltmeter features an optional advanced axis configuration capability, allowing you to precisely align the sensor with the structure key axes.

2. After installing the sensor, you can configure its axes (X, Y, Z) to match the structure primary axes (Longitudinal, Transversal, Vertical).

3. This ensures that the data reflects accurate rotational measurements around the structure key orientations (PHI and THETA angles).

This added flexibility simplifies installation and ensures that the data collected remains meaningful, even when the sensor is positioned at non-standard angles.

2. Diverse sampling options

The new Tiltmeter is not just a tool for passive data collection; it offers active monitoring solutions with four distinct sampling modes.

  1. Standard cadence: for regular data sampling at predefined intervals.
  2. Acceleration-triggered: it activates data sampling upon detecting acceleration beyond set thresholds, perfect for capturing events as they happen.
  3. Angle value-triggered: it increases sampling frequency when tilt angles exceed safety thresholds, crucial for monitoring significant structural shifts.
  4. Angular velocity-triggered: it captures rapid shifts in structure orientation, providing immediate insights into dynamic structural changes.

These modes ensure that monitoring can be customized to meet the specific needs of any project, providing flexibility and control over how data is collected and analyzed.

Set a regular sampling interval, from as little as 30 seconds up to 12 hours, to capture steady, synchronized data from multiple sensors.

Activate sampling when the sensor detects acceleration beyond a user-defined threshold, ensuring you capture critical events as they happen.

Increase sampling frequency when the tilt angle exceeds predefined safety limits, allowing you to closely monitor significant structural changes.

Trigger data acquisition based on the rate of change in tilt angles, capturing rapid shifts in the structure’s orientation.

The Tiltmeter flash memory can hold up to 10,000 data points, ensuring that critical measurements are captured even when offline.

3. Operational continuity with offline mode

Understanding the challenges of connectivity in remote or challenging environments, Move Solutions has equipped the new Tiltmeter with an offline mode that features built-in data logging capabilities. This allows the sensor to continue recording data even when internet connectivity is compromised, ensuring that no critical data is lost.

4. Peak acceleration measurement

Move Solutions latest Tiltmeter also includes a peak acceleration measurement feature. Regardless of the chosen sampling mode, the sensor now reports the maximum acceleration detected during each data acquisition. This metric is crucial for understanding how much the sensor has moved during measurement, offering a clearer understanding of data accuracy.

5. Robust design for harsh environments

Acknowledging the demanding conditions under which many structural monitoring sensors operate, the new Tiltmeter includes an optional antenna protection cover. This feature is particularly beneficial for installations in environments such as railways and construction sites, where sensors are exposed to potential physical impacts.

The new Tiltmeter from Move Solutions represents a significant advancement in Structural Health Monitoring. With its combination of precision monitoring, customizable working modes, robust design, and seamless integration with the MyMove IoT Platform, it sets a new standard for reliability and effectiveness in SHM technology.
